Review — Makino Plateau Campground
I recently camped at Makino Plateau Campground with my family, and honestly—it’s one of those places that just feels good the moment you arrive. The open grassy field sites are huge, giving kids plenty of space to run around while you relax.
One of the highlights is the nearby Metasequoia tree-lined road. A morning walk there hits different—quiet, fresh air, and that perfect camping vibe. Facilities are well-maintained too: clean toilets, decent kitchens, and overall beginner-friendly.

A big bonus is the on-site hot spring, Makino Sarasa Onsen. After setting up camp, soaking in the onsen is just… chef’s kiss.

That said, it does get crowded on weekends, so arriving early helps if you want a prime spot. Also, it can get windy, so make sure your tent is properly secured.
Overall, it’s a great spot for family camping, beginners, or anyone looking to unwind in nature. Definitely one of Kansai’s must-visit campgrounds.
